Its been hell on earth for most parents this half term. With all the excitement and most likely over indulgence in sugar from the Jubilee celebrations, combined with the appalling weather most of us have had to endure. For many of us it will be a big sigh of relief come Monday morning.
Yesterday, after one fight too many I decided to do something I had been promising the twins FOREVER ! Lets go puddle jumping !
So we did.
tentative paddling outside the house to start off, will mummy really let us jump in puddles ?
oh yes I will !
I had actually forgotten how much fun you can have doing the simple things in life, the free things, the things little boys just LOVE to do.
People actually slowed down their cars driving past us in the park. Have we really become so indoctrinated in our "stay indoors" mentality when it rains ? Some smiled, some frowned, some laughed .
WE had a wonderful time, got absolutely soaking wet and filthy
Might actually be just a little sad when the rain goes away. (well, maybe not) Role on the sunshine and time to climb those trees.........

Looks like you all had a great time, it's the little things in life that make them happy. X
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Cathy. Littlest twin said it was THE BEST DAY IN HIS LIFE EVER ! bless xx
DeleteWhen my boys were little they loved it, I love the expressions on their faces, Grotbags enjoys it too but I don't think it's the same for girls, have a great weekend x
ReplyDeleteAhh Karen, I really hope you joined in too :0)
ReplyDeleteWhat a top Mum you are x
lol, oh yes I did ! : ) xx
DeleteThat looks like sooooo much fun! Chick and I love puddle jumping, especially in the muddy ones :-) xx
ReplyDeletehehehe it was fun, the joy on their faces being allowed o do something so simple and MESSY !
Deleteyay you can't beat jumping in a few muddy puddles!
ReplyDeleteIt was such fun, just a shame about the washing afterwards xx
DeleteIts lovely now and again to let your hair down and remember how much fun it is to be a kid xx
ReplyDeleteYou are so right Catherine, I used to get messy so much with No 1 son. I had forgotten how to have fun with the twins. We will certainly be doing it more often from now on. (got the weather for it in this country) xx
DeleteYay for Puddle jumping. We love it :) and your little guys seemed to have had a blast. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for commenting, we do toooooo ! They loved it, I must remember to do it more often, we forget how much the simple things in life can mean so much to young children in this computer age xx
DeleteI bet they loved the fact that you joined in as well. In years to come I'm certain they will remember days like this more than days we carefully orchestrate an spend lots of money on.
ReplyDeleteMy little grandson doesn't seem to realise that you need appropriate footwear to go puddle jumping. A red mist descends and he is soaked up to his knees before anyone notices, at least he is enjoying himself. I think it's important these days for parents to a) get their kids outdoors to discover the world in all weather and b) let their kids get a little mucky sometimes. So good on you!
ReplyDeleteMandy.
